Just wanted to thank you for your blog post and leave a note on how I found it. I have taught psychology for 30 years and used to use Dyer's Erroneous Zones in my course. I still quote a few passages from it. But lately I've become interested in his more recent material, after resisting it for years. Too airy fairy for my skeptical side. I have kind of a dual personality, in which my skeptical self argues constantly with my more mystical self. My Skeptic founded a discussion group in LiveJournal called Transcendentally Tempted Anonymous as a recovery group for those drawn to transcendental stuff. Like synchronicity. I had some major synchronistic experiences in my teens, which included discovering the Tao Te Ching (which I continue to read to this day). Anyhow, after watching The Shift and reading The Power of Intention, I had an urge to show the video to my Positive Psychology class this week instead of two of the classes I usually devote to meaning in life. Scanning the Web for resources, I found your page. So, again, thanks.

That's a really great piece, and one of the clearest most measured recountings of someone's synchronistic experience I've ever read.

Glad you found my diagram useful.

I agree, ultimately what really matters is growth, and a condition for that is to keep an open mind. Saying "yes" to writing the crazy definitely felt like one more step towards that openness... thank for your encouragement in that direction!

I think that ultimately your tweet sums it up pretty well -- we need to be careful of being too skeptical as much as we have to avoid gullibility: there is a Middle Way for rationality, as there is for everything.

Haha. So lovely! I'm glad to be a part of your magical, mystical, Skeptics Sector™ of the woowoo circuit board.

I've not read Jung and it's been years since I picked up (and pretty quickly put down, baffled) the Tao Te Ching, so I'm not really prepared to speak about synchronicity, the phenomenon. (Although I'd be lying if I said this whole exchange hasn't piqued my interest.)

What I also think about it in my own, semi-skeptical, semi-woo way is this: once you open yourself up, you see more of everything. Maybe *that's* synchronicity (sez the skeptic) or maybe it's Spirit working through the skeptic's issues (sez the child of woo). Ultimately, not sure if it matters. Or maybe I should say, right now, these things are not of concern to me.

Growth is it for me, and I will go about it my way, and report back as I can. If I do gather intelligence about synchronicity along the way, I'll relay it, don't worry.

Ultimately, I'm just pleased and happy that you said "YES" to writing the crazy. Even if it *is* the most measured, skeptical crazy I've seen in a while.
